Roo the Roy's Forecast December 2011

20-Dec-2011

In the “Land down Under”, summer is here, although it has been the coldest start to the summer season in over 40 years on the Eastern Seaboard (Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne) however Roy is never deterred from gazing into the crystal ball as long as a glass of beer or red wine is close by.

Just a few forecasts from me now as I am busy preparing to holiday in the Boss’s pub. Yes you read that correctly. Richard Dexter is a now a co-owner of a country pub 1 and a half hours from Melbourne, so adopting that all too familiar stance in my photo, I plan to solve the problems of the world over a few glasses of amber nectar. Check out the pub here or view more pictures on The Mallow's Facebook Page (don't forget to like them!).

It appears that the Euro debt crisis will be sorted – January will be the telling time, but I forecast that common sense will prevail and we will see a return to a slowly growing economy which can only support the rest of the world.

A couple of weeks ago, MISC, one of the world's top 10 container lines, withdrew from the market. This was a major shock globally, however it unfortunately reflects the lack of profitability in the shipping sector. Expect to see more lines rationalising routes, reducing services and transit times in an effort to create demand and therefore increased prices.

Australian ports have suffered under rolling stop work meetings and strikes – expect to see increases in port charges.

Have a great holiday season and see you back here in 2012!!

Cheers!!!
