Roy the Roo's Forecast October 2011
07-Oct-2011Aaaahhhh, summer is approaching. Sunshine, lazy days, cold beer – well, it is for Roy, not the hard workers at Bluefreight (although I have seen a few of them down a frothy beverage).
So my predictions? Let’s review my last lot.
European forwarders expecting a downturn? Correct!
Shipping lines wont implement rate increases and peak season surcharges? 90% correct.
Certainly the lines exporting out of China are suffering from empty slots and are hard pressed filling the vessels given the continuing USA and Euro economic wobbles.
New predictions?
I don’t need to be a Rhode Scholar or economic guru to predict that until Europe sort out the potential defaulting sovereign debts, and the USA starts to improve, the Aussie economy will meander along like a lost dog except for the mineral exports supporting the China manufacturing industry.
Given that Australia is under a hung Federal parliament and decisions are made (poorly) by single interest minority members, Australia will only further slip into a declining economy.
Having said the depressing news above, here's some more: Australian ports, stevedores, trucking companies, in fact almost every-one in the supply chain are increasing costs and/or inventing new items to invoice.
