Bluefreight wins Official Logistics Provider for the Audi Etchells Worlds 2009 Melbourne
Recognized by many yachtsmen as the pinnacle of fleet racing the Etchells Worlds attracts entrants from 9 different overseas countries including the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, China, Burmuda, Ireland, New Zealand, Canada, America. The Etchells class is sailed by both professional and ammeter sailor. Many current and past AC boat competitors take part, John Bertrand, Skip Lissiman, Noel Drennan, Mark Bradford to name but a few Australians.
It is estimated that the 2009 Audi Etchells Worlds Melbourne will attract a fleet of 80 boats with approximately 25 of these entries coming from overseas. This event will be the pinnacle of yacht racing held in Australia in 2009 and as such great interest is being shown in the event. Audi Australia have recognized this event as the premier regatta and as such have lent their support as naming rights sponsor with Bluefreight as the Official Logistics Provider. |

Bluefreight Wins International Award - 5/7/2008
At the recent Globalink conference held in Bali and attended by over 90 members, Richard Dexter was the proud recipient of the inaugural and annual Mike Miller Contribution Award for Service to the Network and for his efforts during the year for introducing a whole range of initiatives.
Richard commented when receiving the Award, "That I am honoured to receive this award from my peers, and in such august company, I am extremley flattered. The reason that this network, Globalink, works better than any of the other networks, is that we all contribute so much for the benefit of all." |

Cigarette Boat from Newport, US. --> Originally Dennis Conners' pace boat for the America's Cup in the USA, this boat has one of hell of a history. Without going into the details of its mysterious past, this boat found its way into the hands of its current owner - an Austrlian resident with a passion of fast water craft.
The boat enthusiast came to Bluefreight to arrange the movement of the cigarette boat from the east coast of the US to Melbourne. This was no straight forward import... Bluefreight were presented with a multitude of logisitcal issues due to its oversized nature and lack of space on an otherwise overbooked route.
Upon arrival at the Melbourne port, transport to the consignee also presented difficulties again due to the boat's size - it was over-width and over-length! AQIS also presented us with a myriad of tasks to perform to comply with their cleaning and fumigation policies.
Needless to say, Bluefreight delivered the boat without a hitch (and with a little creative logisitcs) to a very pleased customer. |

Marine insurance - 01/04/2008
Don't freight wthout it... The benefits of Marine Insurance --> Marine insurance is now highly recommended. Following terror attacks, governments around the world are taking a much tougher stance on cargo inspections. Cargo damage, loss or theft is also possible during transit from the place of origin to the destination. Whoever issues that the Bill of Lading guarantees to pay you the Statutory Minimums if your freight is lost or damaged. However, they will pay you very little. It varies, but it is normally only fifety cents a dollar for land transits or domestic air, $20/kilo for ocean transits. If your goods are lost, damaged or stolen this is all you get! Cargo insurance can reimburse you for up to the full value of your goods. Cargo insurance covers your goods whilst "in transit" up to the value you declare or the amount of the loss, whichever is less, subject to the Standard Conditions, and Special Conditions, and any international Treaty Clauses while you have an "Insurable Interest" in the goods. AQIS news - 01/04/2008
The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) is part of the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF). AQIS manages quarantine controls at our borders to minimise the risk of exotic pests and diseases entering the country. AQIS also provides import and export inspection and certification to help retain Australia's highly favourable animal, plant and human health status and wide access to overseas export markets. Customs news - 01/04/2008
NEW PERMIT SYSTEM FOR FOREIGN NON-COMMERCIAL CRAFT --> Customs will be trialling a new permit system for non-commercial foreign craft in Australia. Control Permits will replace Cruising Permits that were previously granted to eligible smallcraft.
Control permits are granted to eligible applicants where Customs is satisfied that the craft is transiting Australia for specified non-commercial purposes such as:
- cruising/touring purposes
- mooring purposes
- recreational use
- repair/refit
- specified racing events
Persons eligible to apply for a control permit must hold a valid passport and visa and must be a tourist or temporary resident. In certain circumstances non-resident Australians, who can demonstrate overseas residency, may be eligible for a control permit.
Where a craft is owned by a corporation and more than 50% of the owners of the corporation are Australian residents, a control permit will not be granted. READ MORE... |
